Let's talk about free oils.

When I first started my business, I really had NO clue what I was doing.  But what I did know was that I truly loved my essential oils.  Sharing with others about why I loved my oils was so natural that others wanted what I had!

Before I knew it, I had a number of people on my team and it was paying for the oils I was getting each month.  Yup, sharing was pretty simple when you really looked at it.  And that is just the beginning.

I would like you to have that same opportunity!!   You'll get support not only from me but from several of our Facebook groups of people doing the same thing.  Lots of ideas on how to share about the oily life and how it creates wellness in your family.

You don't have to have a fancy blog.....I just chose to.  You don't have to have a fancy office.  You don't have to have stock to sell either.  You just need the drive to share your love of oils.   AND, I can even help you with ideas if your oils sharing is just in its infancy.

So that you can see the potential, HERE is the 2017 Disclosure Statement.  It details income ranges and more.

So.....what are you waiting for???   Tell me that you are ready to become your own boss!

It's Bath Time!

After Labor Day holiday, you just might need a bath!  Maybe you were working in the garage or playing on the boat.  Whatever you were doing, sometimes our muscles get really sore.  Why, even weeding today, my muscles were talking to me.  Here are two Young Living ideas that you can use to replenish your body.  The first is Aminowise.  I just love this product!  You can either take it before or after your workout, exercise or just working hard.  The product supports your muscles by reducing the lactic acid formed by exercise and after 20 minutes of drinking it I can really feel refreshed instead of just plain worn out!  It supports hydration by replenishing important minerals with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

The second way you can give your muscles a break is to take a bath!  Depending on what you add to the bath water, your bath can do more than just relax you!  So, let's talk about a recipe that I found on the web recently.

Detox Bath Salts

1/2 cup Himalayan Pink Salt

1/2 cup Activated Charcoal

6 drops Young Living Lavender essential oil

5 drops Young Living Frankincense essential oil

I know that many people use Epsom salts when they make a bath salt.  I normally do!  So, what makes using Himalayan Pink Salt different?  There are many differences between these salts.

Epsom salt is not actually salt, it is a mineral found in water containing high levels of magnesium and sulfate. The mineral has a crystalline structure similar to that of table salt (which is the reasoning behind it being called salt), but it is actually a pure mineral compound. It has no sodium chloride (which is salt) and is technically known as magnesium sulfate. Epsom salt is magnesium that is bonded to sulfur and oxygen. It was first distilled in the town of Epsom in Surrey, England in the 1800’s and was named for the town. It has been said to have many beneficial uses from easing achy muscles and other ailments to fertilizing your garden.

Himalayan salt has magnesium and sulfate plus 82 other minerals and trace elements, including sodium and chloride and is truly salt. There are certain properties that come with being salt, such as, being anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial. Crystals are hand-harvested from mineral deposits on salt cave floors that have been dated by geologists to the Precambrian Age. Himalayan salt is mined from the underground salt mines in the foot hills of the Himalayan Mountains and is the purest salt available on earth. Himalayan salt produces negative ions that help purify the air of allergens, bacteria, dust, and other pollutants. When warmed the crystal salt emits a negative charge that enriches our environment and as the negatively charged ions enter our bodies they attach to the toxins and neutralize their charge, thus detoxifying our systems. Himalayan salt is known to reduce inflammation within our bodies, which, makes it of great benefit to those suffering from arthritis and other ailments of inflammation.

Wow, I think I'm going to use Pink Himalayan Salt ALL the time now.  There are just so many more nutrients that are beneficial to my body!

Then, let's talk about the activated charcoal.  It is very powerful in detoxifying.  Searching online tells us that Activated charcoal draws bacteria, poisons, chemicals, dirt and other micro-particles to the surface of skin, helping you to achieve a flawless complexion and fight acne.  Wow!  Think of what it can do for you when it is in your bath water!

Finally, let's talk about the Frankincense and
Lavender Essential oils.  Lavender is calming so your bath with it will be perfect for relaxing those tired muscles and get you ready for a good night's sleep.  Frankincense is grounding, supports and enhances your skin.

So, there you have it!  Want to take it up a notch?  Add in a Tablespoonful of Lavender buds for a real spa treatment.  You can even use the buds to rub your skin and exfoliate it!  (You might not want them to go down your drain though!)

I want you to think back to the last time you cleaned something in your house.  Like maybe spraying a cleaning product on your tub to clean it.  Think about how you were able to breathe.  Did your eyes bother you?  Did you get a headache?  Did your body ache?  I was getting those kinds of symptoms all the time but didn't really connect the problem with the product.

As Americans we expect to be told about every ingredient in products that we use from foods and makeup to cleaners.  BUT, did you know the manufacturers of cleaning products are not required to do so!  Shocking!  How can you protect your family when you can't make a good decision on products that you are using.  Well.....I have an answer for you!

Thieves!  ..........The Thieves I'm talking about isn't a bunch of guys breaking into your home and taking your things.  I'm talking about Thieves Household Cleaner.  It is a cleaner free from toxic chemicals.  When you switch to Thieves Household cleaner you can ditch all the other cleaners you have that are chuck-a-bluck full of toxins!

Thieves Household Cleaner contains a proprietary blend of 5 essential oils to enhance your cleaning and keep the cooties away from your surfaces!  Rosemary, Lemon, Clove, Cinnamon and Eucalyptus Radiata make this cleaner smell like Christmas in a bottle and makes cleaning almost enjoyable!

It is sold in a 14.4 oz bottle.  Wait!  What??  That isn't much cleaner.  Well.....guess what!  It is super concentrated and for most cleaning jobs I mix it in a ratio of 30:1.  That means you'll get around TWENTY-SIX 16oz bottles from that tiny little bottle.  AND you'll be doing your whole family a favor in ridding your home of toxins.

Why should getting rid of toxins be important to you?  Many of the toxic chemicals affect your nervous system, your respiratory system, your hormonal system just to name a few.  Thieves Household cleaner replaces so many toxins that you may even notice that you're healthier during the year!

The Thieves line is sooooo powerful that it doesn't stop with the cleaner.

  • Thieves Toothpaste (best cleanings I've had ever).  Super clean teeth without the furry feeling mid day.
  • Thieves Mouthwash but quick mouth rinse outs.
  • Thieves hand know that the chemicals from your soap transfer through you skin right into your system.......opt for a better hand soap.
  • Thieves Dishwasher detergent.  Think of the chemicals from dishwasher soap ON each plate that you put food on.  Those chemicals make their way into your system.  No problem with the Thieves dishwasher soap.
  • Thieves Dishwashing soap.  I like to keep mine by the sink for quick handwash jobs.
  • Thieves Fruit & Veggie Wash.  Removing chemicals from what you are going to put into your mouth.
  • Thieves Hand Purifier.  So much better than Hand Sanitizer without the chemicals, smells better and without the drying affect of other products.
I found this cool video online and thought you's appreciate as well.

What's that smell?

Have you ever walked by the perfume counter at a department store?  Their fragrance wafts out as you walk by.  Have you ever thought "Exactly what is in that concoction to make it smell so good (or bad)?  Let's take a closer look at those hidden ingredients.  And hidden they are too!  Manufacturers are not required to list their ingredients especially when their potion is proprietary.

Listed on this site, you can see that those ingredients aren't exactly as body friendly as you might think!
  • Laboratory tests found a total of 38 chemicals not listed on the labels in 17 name-brand fragrances (such as Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Bath & Body Works, Old Spice, Calvin Klein, and more)
  • The average fragrance product contained 14 chemicals that were not disclosed on the label (along with another 15 that were listed)
  • Fragrances commonly contain parabens, phthalates, and synthetic musks that may cause hormone disruption, reproductive problems, or possibly cancer
  • The exact ingredients in synthetic fragrances are protected as “trade secrets” and therefore do not have to be disclosed on the label

YUCK!  So, let's talk about options that you will love.  Did you know that you can make your own fragrances based on natural ingredients?  Yup!  So, let's talk about this.

Essential oils were the basis of many perfumes.  Why they strayed so far away from the original beautiful scent is a mystery to me.  Probably because you can't make money with 'natural'.

Essential oils have many 'notes'.  The notes have to do with the different molecules in the oil.  There are three different groups of weights.  The Top Note, Middle Note and the Low Note.  The Top Note molecules are light weight and are the ones that you smell first especially when you are smelling an essential oil right out of the bottle.  The Middle and Low Notes quickly follows the scent when you have the oil applied to your skin completing the bouquet of the scent of the oil.

So, let's talk about how you can make your own perfume!

You can start with the base note, soften with a middle note, and finish with a top note to make a  positive first impression.  Below is a starter list for you.

Base Note Oils:
Pathouli, Idaho Balsam Fir, Myrrh, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Clove
Middle Note Oils (the floral oils):
Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Jasmine, Rose, Neroli
Top Note Oils:
Lime, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Bergamot, Orange, Basil, Lavender, Thyme, Jade lemon, Cinnamon Bark, and Coriander

Young Living essential oils are pure and have no additives and are not adulterated so your concocted perfumes will last and smell great.  You can use empty 5ml essential oil bottles.  You also want an AromaGlide Rollerball to fit on your bottle when you are done.  YL's V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex is great for a carrier but you could use other carrier oils as well.

Drop 10 - 15 drops of the oils you select into your empty 5ml bottle and top off with your carrier.  Snap on the roller ball and cap and label.  If you would like custom labels and links to each oil listed below, Visit HERE.

What oils have you used as a perfume just on their own without adding in anything else?  I've used Joy, Awaken, Kunzea and many more!

Some people would swear!

Marco Gentile made the following report.  It is him in the picture with the microphone so his experience is first hand.  THIS story is exactly why I love our company......we only want the best and our Seed to Seal promise selects, processes, distills, and bottles every oil with utmost care, accuracy and testing during the process. In fact, 20 different tests are completed at least three times for each batch of oil!  In my opinion, it is this type of commitment to purity that makes Young Living one of the best companies!
Many other companies adulterate their oils.  That means that they add in a chemical or another oil that smells like the real thing but will not work the same as the 100% pure oil.   Only testing can find the adulteration!

Here is Marco's story!
Gary Young had his first encounter with adulterated frankincense in 1997 when a third party broker assured Gary on a stack of Bibles (or should I say Quran's) that his very expensive, premium, “Howjari” grade “luban” oil was the best in the world. At the time, we were working with Jim Kababick at Flora Research who did our advanced biochemical analysis prior to Gary’s multiyear, million-dollar build-out of his own state-of-the-art Young Living essential oil analysis facilities.
When Gary parsed the report he was stunned: What smelled like frankincense (Boswellia carterii) was in fact “extended” frankincense: A small amount of real oil dissolved in 98% diethyl phthalate.
This incident prompted Gary to be the first to travel to Oman and Yemen to secure genuine frankincense and distill it himself. In this photo from 2010 we are interviewing a major Frankincense and Myrrh exporter in Yemen to secure a supply of authentic resin for distillation. Young Living is the only company in the world legally permitted to sell and distill Sacred Frankincense (Boswellia sacra) from Oman.

BC and BM vs SM by YL

I know...the title is a little strange.  BC is Beauty Counter a popular makeup brand.  BM is Bare Minerals. SM is Savvy Minerals makeup and YL is Young Living who sells Savvy Minerals Makeup.  All you have to do is look at the ingredients and you can see that SM is on the lowest side.  Just the minerals and none of the bad stuff.  But aside the ingredients, let's talk about price between the two.  AND if you read at the very end, you'll see that SM is even better because of the Essential Rewards benefits!!  I've been on ER for almost three years.  I don't know of other companies that rewards you like that.  I get 25% back to spend on product on every ER order!!  So.....let's get on to the comparison.  This information was saved from a different blog.

Ok, so we all like savings 💰 right? Sometimes we talk ourselves out of spending 💰 on things because we THINK we are spending a lot.  Whether you are a couponer or a price matcher or not, let's compare and contrast the cost of Young Living's Savvy Mineral's makeup with a few other leading companies.

Here are some interesting finds for the basic things we all buy when we think of makeup and how Young Living fares!

Young Living Savvy Minerals (Wholesale Price):
💧Eyeshadow (one color)-15.25
💧Lip Gloss-27.50
(w/out Lipstick-$130.25; w/out Lip Gloss-$125.50)

BeautyCounter Makeup (non-consultant price):
💄Foundation (powder)-$41
💄Lip Gloss-$29
(w/out Lipstick-$167; w/out Lip Gloss-$168)

Bare Minerals Makeup (Retail-only option):
🐻 Eyeliner-$17
🐻Eyeshadow (Palette)-$45
🐻Lip Gloss-$18
(w/out Lipstick-$132.50; w/out Lip Gloss-$134.50)

So, as you can see:
1. Young Living's makeup is NOT as expensive as you think!
2. Hello, INGREDIENTS??? 🙂 I mean, the stuff I can trust is really no more then the stuff I can't trust. Maybe you get a tad more (like multiple eyeshadows or a duo blush pack) but I am happy to get quality over quantity. 🙂

AND BEST POINT OF ALL: Neither of these other 2 give me POINTS BACK when I order!!!! With my YL order I can add these to my ER order, get up to 25% back (if you're just starting you will get 10% and work your way up) which is $38.25 back on an order of $153!!!!! So, who does that?
Does Target? Ulta? Amazon?
Nope,  none.

Just something to chew on. 🙂 Feel free to share this. 🙂
End of math lesson! 👨‍🏫"

What's the difference?

This information was provided by Young Living Education!  My favorite of the three is really reminds you the most of the Euc you smell in over the counter products.  After that I like the scent of Radiata.  Milder and great for the kids in your life.  If you want to try any of the three, you can add your order to mine which goes in by the 22nd of May!  Enjoy!!

Young Living distills three different varieties of Eucalyptus essential oil. That is, 3 of the 700 known varieties existing in the world! Needless to say, we think these three are pretty special!
Every one of the many varieties of eucalyptus share some common characteristics. For example, every member of the eucalyptus family flowers, and they can all be classified as trees or shrubs. While the whole population shares root origin, they are grown around the world and have differences.
Eucalyptus has been of special interest to people since ancient times and has been used for everything from fuel to fragrances. Most species can survive over 250 years, and in the right conditions, many live up to 500 years. Eucalyptus trees can also survive wildfires! Deep inside the tree and roots, these plants have dormant shoots that germinate only under the trigger of heat by flames.
Eucalyptus trees are known for high yield of oils. When the weather is warm enough in eucalyptus forests, they release their oils into the air creating a smog-like mist; and that’s how the Australian Blue Mountains got their name! All three essential oils YL carries are steam distilled from just leaves.
Let’s look at each of Young Living’s three Eucalyptus oils, what blends they can be found in, and some of the characteristics that make them unique.
Eucalyptus Radiata
Eucalyptus Radiata is sourced from Australia and has a bright and pungent, citrusy scent. Eucalyptus Radiata is milder than Eucalyptus Globulus, with a sweeter and more citrus scent. Its cooling, refreshing, and energizing aroma makes it a popular choice to use. It is found in three of Young Living’s popular blends, including Thieves, R.C., Raven, and Ortho Ease.
Usage Suggestions
• Turn your shower into a spa by adding 5¬–10 drops of Eucalyptus Radiata in the bottom of your shower. You can also try adding it to a warm, damp washcloth and placing it just out of direct contact with the water before showering. It will create a cool, refreshing experience—perfect for a post-workout pick-me-up!
• Boost the power of your next foot rub by adding a few drops to Ortho Ease Massage Oil and give your toes a little calming and relaxing love.
• Rejuvenate and recharge in your home or office when you create an inspiring getaway by diffusing Eucalyptus Radiata.
• Kick the stale odors out of closets, attics, and anywhere else they may loom with a DIY room refresher spray powered by Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil.
Eucalyptus Globulus
This variety is sourced from China and has a rich, bold, and earthy scent. Eucalyptus Globulus is the strongest and most intense of the eucalyptus oils. It also has the highest amount of eucalyptol and has a very strong, sharp, and green scent to it. It is popular in personal care products, spa treatments, and DIYs for its cleansing and refreshing properties. It can be found in R.C. and Ortho Sport Massage Oil.
Usage Suggestions
• Embrace the cleansing benefits of Eucalyptus Globulus by adding a drop or two to your favorite facial cream! Be cautious around the eye area, as it can produce a tingling sensation.
• Breathe fresh! Enjoy an uplifting experience by inhaling Eucalyptus Globulus directly or rubbing it on your chest.
• Create a refreshing atmosphere for your next workout! Diffuse Eucalyptus Globulus before or during your next at-home sweat session.
• Give your muscles a break by adding Eucalyptus Globulus to V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex and using it for a relaxing massage.
Eucalyptus Blue
Eucalyptus Blue is a cross between Eucalyptus Citriodora and Eucalyptus Globulus and has a distinctly herbaceous and calming scent to it that makes it a key ingredient in Breathe Again Roll-On. This exotic single is grown at Young Living’s farm in Ecuador.
Usage Suggestions
• Cool down after a hard workout by adding a few drops of Eucalyptus Blue to your neck.
• Wake up your afternoon by diffusing Eucalyptus Blue in your home or office.
• Diffuse this oil to create the perfect environment for boosting your spirits.

Just for your mom!

For all of you who love to love on your mamas on Mother's Day, here are essential oil ideas that will be sure to please. AND, your mom will love that she can pamper herself!

Get ready for the ticks!

Last summer there was a video going around showing this woman using an essential oil on a tick to get it to remove itself from her leg.

Trying to remove a tick in this manner will cause the tick to potentially inject you with Lyme or a tick born illness.  Safely remove a tick and then you can use your essential oils to soothe the bite area.  Here is a cool graphic that talks about safe removal!

What essential oils would I use on the bite area.  Why Lavender, of course!  You could also use Tea Tree.

Dangers of Terpenes

Sometimes people read something online and then it becomes their mantra.  Let's take a constituent of essential oils for instance.  Terpenes.  Now before we talk specifically about terpenes, let's talk about constituents:  There are hundreds of constituents in the oils but many are grouped in general groupings.  Pure essential oils like Young Living oils can be subdivided into two distinct groups of chemical constituents; the hydrocarbons which are made up almost exclusively of terpenes (monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and diterpenes), and the oxygenated compounds which are mainly esters, aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, phenols, and oxides.

Now the subject of this post is about Terpenes.  Why?  because I saw a question come up recently in a group I follow about the safety of terpenes.  I know they are safe in essential oils but wanted to know where this idea of them being unsafe same from.  If you search on Google, all kinds of posts come to the top of the search about using cannabis with added terpenes.  Many of those websites are saying how bad terpenes are for you.  Ahhh......

There are something wrong with the connection between adding terpenes to your cannabis and using an essential oil with terpenes.

  • When you remove one constituent from its normal source and add it to something else, like cannabis, you are affecting the ability of that constituent to correctly interact with other ingredients.  THAT could indeed be bad for you.
So....are terpenes everywhere bad for you.  NO!  They are a primary building block of plants, foods and many vitamins.  Take rain for instance.  Terpenes are released into the air and make rain. has a lot of terpenes.  All sex hormones have terpene.  Add rubber tires to the list and it is impossible to avoid them.

Terpenes in essential oils include Monoterpenes.  These are present in almost all essential oils. According to The Reference Guide to Essential Oils, the action is to inhibit the accumulation of toxins. Monoterpenes also enhance the therapeutic values of other components and are the balancing portion of the oil. They restore the correct information in the DNA of the cell once the sesquiterpenes and and other constituents have done their job.

What Essential oils that have a High Percentage of Monoterpenes?
Grapefruit, Orange, and Balsam Fir contain high amounts of monoterpenes.

Sesquiterpenes – Delete bad information in cellular memory and are present in almost all essential oils. The chemistry of essential oils tells us that they are the largest group of terpenes known naturally in the plant and animal kingdom!  They are larger than monoterpenes and are very viscous (less volatile) so they are often used as fixatives in the perfume industry. Viscous oils have a longer half-life and blend well with lighter, more volatile oils.

What Essential oils that have a High Percentage of Sesquiterpenes?

Remember in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie where they had Smell-O-Vision TV where you could smell what you saw.  Wasn't that just the most fun idea ever?  Well......Leah and I are having our own version of Smell-O-Vision but this time, you'll get to smell essential oils just like you were sitting here beside me!  We have perfected our smell packets to prevent cross contamination so if you attended the class once before and want to do it again, you can!!  Our class will be conducted on Zoom which is a video conference call where everyone can see the participants as well as Leah and myself and ask questions real time.

In our Smell-O-Vision class, you'll learn how essential oils can be used for wellness.  We've used them to trade out toxic chemicals in our daily routine.  It has been our passion for about three years to eliminate chemicals from our homes and we want everyone to be able to have the same freedom and wellness that we have!

It doesn't cost anything for you to attend the class or receive the smell samples.  The class is on Thursday night, May 10th, at 6:30pm Pacific Time.  It will be approximately 60 minutes long.

So, tell us you are coming to join the fun and we'll get your smell samples in the mail right away.  The last date to give us confirmation is May 5th.  That way Mr Postman can get your samples to you in time for the show!  The link to the Zoom conference call will be sent via can be viewed on a desktop computer OR your phone!  Easy!!

Taxes.......we could all do without them.  Keeping track of certain expenses is a royal pain.  Trying to balance the paying of taxes against what will truly be owed is a balancing act that many of us don't do well.  Sometimes you owe but sometimes you get a refund!!  (yeah for refunds)

Were you one of those who ended up with a tax refund?  We did.....not much but just a little. So, what are you planning to do with yours?  I know that many people opt to use it for vacation.  Some use it to pay off the bills.  Then there are those who decide that their money can be used for wellness!

How would you spend your tax money on wellness?

  • Get a gym membership.
  • Buy a block or series of massages.
  • Start a vitamin regimen.
  • Start your journey with essential oils for wellness!
I think you can see where I'm going, right?  Well, today through Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 9pm PT, your tax dollars will go a little further.  I'm giving a little refund of my own to help you start your journey.  It is a $25 account credit when you get the Premium Starter Kit (PSK). Woo Hoo!!  That is much better than Uncle Sam, isn't it?

Dirty Dozen - Cleaners

Last week we talked about the Dirty Dozen of Cosmetics.  I hope you got a chance to read through it and go to your bathroom and check your own stash of products to see if they contained the bad stuff. we will talk about the Dirty Dozen of Cleaners.  Actually there are WAY more than a dozen Toxic chemicals in your cleaners.  You shouldn't have to use protective eyewear, rubber gloves and a mask when you clean.

Recently I found the attached article from the Environmental Work Group about some of the worst cleaners you can have in your home.  Let me tell you that I was shocked to see some products on the list that I thought we okay!!  You can see that list HERE.  They call it the Cleaners Hall of Shame.

Before we start to talk about the Chemicals in y our cleaners, get on your phone and download the app called Think Dirty.  It is has a database that is growing everyday.  You can scan the barcode on your products and it will rate it from 1 - 10 on a toxin level.  10 is the worst.  You are also able to click on the ingredients of a product and see the individual ratings of each ingredient.  Baby Shampoo......rates around a 9!!  Dish soaps like Dawn are also rated high.  Many times because of the fragrance!!  So, in the picture to the left is a starter list for you.  10 Dangerous Chemicals that you really need to BAN from your home!  Go to your cupboard and grab the cleaners that you are using.

Now here is the most scary part...........look at the picture to the right.  If you think the FDA has your back, think again.  Many of the chemicals that they allow in our cleaning products have been banned in other countries.  It makes you wonder why we are in the dark ages.  I mean, 1976 was a long time ago and there are thousands of chemicals that have been added to the list since then.  Don't think they are working for you, because they are not!

If 84,000 sounds like a large number, IT IS!!  There were only 10 listed above.  Here are another 15!

Now you know what I'm going to say next, right?  After all, this is a blog that loves essential oils and the products that contain them.  This post is no different.  If you have been wondering what in the world you can use to clean your home when there are so many chemicals in the products that you always use, think no more.  I've banned almost all those products and replaced them with the Thieves cleaning products.  The ingredients in Thieves Household Cleaner is all derived from plant based ingredients which makes them more safe for you.  I got my first bottle of it and then it sat on my shelf........not to be used for a YEAR.  Why?  Because I was afraid.  Yup.......I thought that dilution chart was too hard to understand (it isn't) and I thought that it wouldn't be nearly as good as the cleaners I was using.  I was soooo wrong.

If you are on Facebook, there is a cool event group called 30 days of Spring Cleaning with Thieves Cleaner.  It doesn't cost you anything to join and there are a lot of ideas of how to use it.  Tell me to add you.

So.....did you grab a cleaner from under your sink?  Did it have toxins in it?  Do you feel good cleaning your counters with it and putting food immediately on top of it?  If you answered yes to the first two questions and No to the last question then you are ready for a change and Thieves is that change.  Don't delay.  Tell us today that you are ready to kick the chemicals to the curb.

After you have the Thieves Cleaner, you can also look at the Thieves laundry soap, Thieves dish soap, Thieves dishwasher soap, Thieves fruit wash and so much more!!

Extra love right from YL

Stress Away Relaxing Bath BombsI'm so glad to be connected with a company that not only has a pure and effective product line but one that loves on their members too!  How?

Well, from April 7–14, any new  member who enrolls with a Premium Starter Kit and enrolls in Essential Rewards with a minimum 50 PV order (about $50) will get a free pack of Stress Away Relaxing Bath Bombs. That’s sure to make a splash in your day!

I know what you are thinking right now......what is Essential Rewards?  Well, if you are familiar with programs like Stitch Fix or Ugly Produce, you get a sense of what it is.  But this program is even better!  Essential Rewards is a monthly wellness box (we all need more wellness, right?) that you receive every month.  So, how is this different from others?  Not only can you change the contents of the box whenever you want and change the delivery date, you also get a 'rebate'!!**

Months 1 - 3 that you participate you are rewarded 10% of your box point value.  The $50 minimum usually has a point value of 50.  So, every month your order earns you at least 5PV to spend on YL product!!

Month 4 - 24 that reward jumps to 20%.  I don't think other reward programs do that, do they?

Then to make it even sweeter, at months 3, 6, 9, and 12, you are sent a free oil.  Now I KNOW other companies don't do rewards like this!!

So, now that you are chomping at the bit to start your collection of wellness, how do you do it?  You start by talking with Leah or Ann and tell them you want the Premium Starter Kit.  They will help you sign up for the wholesale account.  During that process, you sign up for ER (Essential Rewards) with an additional order of about $50 and you're on a great start to creating wellness in your home and body!

Make sure you do this by the 14th to get the Stress Away Bath Bombs.  AND to sweeten the deal, Leah and I have a few new member bonus items to send you.

**Essential Rewards has no contract to sign and you can stop the program anytime you wish.  But if you are like me, you'll want to continue.  I'm at month 36 and I get 25% back in points on all my ER orders!
Be like Ann!  ;-)

Dirty Dozens - Cosmetics

For the next couple of posts we are going to talk about the Dirty Dozen chemicals in several items we ALL use!

I know that as a female, I use lots of skin care products.  (yes, I know, guys use them too!) As women, we always seem to be fighting the progression of age and gravity.  Right?  Many of us use makeup as well.  Most all the skin care and makeup products available to you in the big box stores or department stores are FILLED with chemicals from the dirty dozen list below.

So, I have a challenge for you.  Grab some of your skin care and makeup bottles or boxes and read the ingredients.  Compare those ingredients to the list below.  Did your products have any of those chemicals in them?  If they did, comment below or on my facebook post which ones you found and tell me when you are ready to get rid of them!

The Cosmetic DIRTY DOZEN

Found in lipsticks and moisturizers, among other types of cosmetics, BHA and BHT are classified as possible carcinogens. Long-term exposure to these ingredients has been linked to liver, thyroid, and kidney problems.
On ingredients lists, these will show up as “P-phenylenediamine” or “CI” followed by a number. P-phenylenediamine is a coal tar dye found in hair dyes, while CI (or Color Index) numbers are used to identify coal tar dyes in a variety of pigmented cosmetics like lipstick. Derived from petroleum and composed of many different chemicals, coal tar dyes are recognized as a human carcinogen and have been linked to brain damage.
This ingredient helps make cosmetic products creamy or sudsy and can be found in products like facial cleansers, shampoos, soaps and moisturizers. In the short term, DEA can cause moderate skin and eye irritation, while sustained exposure has been linked to liver, skin, and thyroid cancers.
Dibutyl phthalate is a plasticizer commonly used to prevent nail polish from becoming brittle. Consistent use of DBP has been linked to hormonal disruptions and developmental defects in fetuses, as well as liver and kidney failure.
Look for ingredients like DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, methenamine, quaternium-15, and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate. These preservatives are used to increase the shelf life of a variety of cosmetics and they work by continuously releasing small amounts of formaldehyde – a known human carcinogen.
An estimated 75-90% of cosmetics contain parabens, making them the most widely used preservative in makeup and skincare products. The ingredient has been linked to hormonal disruptions, breast cancer, increased skin aging, and DNA damage.
About 3,000 different ingredients are used in fragrances, though these will show up as one word on ingredient lists – “fragrance” or “parfum”. Used in more than just perfumes, these smell-enhancing substances can be found in almost every type of cosmetic product. Many unlisted ingredients in fragrances have been linked to health problems like asthma, allergies, and even cancer.
Common in cream-based cosmetics, PEG compounds are used as thickeners, solvents and moisture-carriers. Depending on how they are manufactured, these ingredients can get contaminated with carcinogenic substances like ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane. Even when not contaminated, PEG compounds have been shown to cause skin irritation.
Petrolatum is a petroleum jelly that is used in hair products to add shine and in lip balms, lip sticks, and moisturizers as a moisture barrier. The ingredient is often contaminated with PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), a known carcinogen, and can cause skin irritation and allergies in smaller doses.
Look for ingredients ending in “-siloxane” or “-methicone”, which are found most commonly in hair products and deodorants. Many of these ingredients have been found to impair fertility and cause hormonal disruptions.
This foaming agent can be found in cosmetics like cleansers, bubble bath, and shampoo and toothpaste. Many commercial varieties are contaminated with ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane – known carcinogens.
This ingredient is found in antibacterial cosmetics like deodorants, cleansers, and hand sanitizers. The ingredient is said to cause skin and eye irritations in the short run, and conditions like antibiotic resistance and hormonal disruptions with sustained use.
Does Young Living have an answer.......yup!  They have a full line of skin care products which I use all the time that do not have toxic chemicals.  They now have a line of mineral makeup which I love and feel so light on your face you don't even know it is there.  So tell us that you are ready to start your chemical free living today!!
